Commonly referred to as “windows to the soul,” the eyes are the focal point of the face and, unfortunately, the first area to show signs of aging. Over time, the skin creases and wrinkles, the lids start to sag and puffy “bags” develop underneath the eyes. So, if you believe your eyes don’t accurately represent your youthful spirit, or if you dislike being told that you look tired or angry, eyelid surgery is the best way to rejuvenate the area and restore a pleasant expression.

Why You Can Trust Dr. Katz

As you can imagine, the eyelid area is extremely delicate.  Therefore treating the eye area requires the steady hand of an experienced surgeon. Dr. Warren J. Katz is one of the most trusted eyelid surgeons in Dallas.  Furthermore, over the course of more than 30 years of practice, Dr. Katz has delivered beautiful and natural-looking results to thousands of patients. He is happy to share his eyelid before and after photo gallery with you, to give you a better idea of his work.

More importantly, your safety and satisfaction are Dr. Katz’s top priorities. For your comfort and convenience, Dr. Katz performs eyelid surgery on-site at his own AAAHC accredited surgical center. A board certified anesthesiologist administers IV Sedation.  In other words, you will be well taken care of by a team of knowledgeable and friendly professionals and can expect the finest quality of care when you choose Dr. Katz.

Am I a Candidate for Eyelid Surgery?

You may be a suitable candidate for eyelid surgery if you have:

  • Excess skin obscuring the natural fold of your upper eyelid
  • Extra skin hanging from the upper eyelids over the eyelashes (possibly impairing your line of sight)
  • Puffy upper and/or lower eyelids
  • Bags/dark circles under the eyes
  • Thin, wrinkled, “crepe paper-”like skin around the lower eyelids

Dr. Katz meets with all patients considering eyelid surgery for an informational consultation. During your appointment, he will thouroughly examine your eyelids, noting the amount of excess skin, puffiness, and wrinkling in the eye area.  Next, he will ask you to describe your ideal surgical outcome.  Finally, he will use this information to draft your individualized treatment plan, describe the surgical procedure and discuss any further patient concerns or questions.

How Is the Procedure Performed?

Dr. Katz can take one of two approaches during surgery.

With blepharoplasty surgery, Dr. Katz addresses the problem areas in the upper and lower eyelids. During surgery Dr. Katz removes excess skin, repositions fat deposits and tightens the muscles around the eyes to produce a more awake, rested and youthful appearance.

Eyelid Surgery Recovery

Initial post-operative swelling and bruising are normal, and symptoms subside after about a week. Furthermore, any pain or discomfort can be alleviated with oral medication as prescribed by Dr. Katz.

In the first few days following eyelid surgery, it is important that you rest as much as possible, avoiding strenuous activity.  For instance, you should expect to take a week or so off from work, and slowly ease back into your regular activities, including exercise. For the best outcome, follow all of Dr. Katz’s recovery guidelines and attend scheduled recheck appointments.  Always feel free to contact the office with any further questions.
