Do you struggle with surplus fat in one or more areas of your body? Have you tried non-surgical ways to tone your physique, to no avail? If so, it might be prudent to consider liposuction. Liposuction is a surgical technique used to slim and reshape specific areas of the body and give you a more desirable figure.

Am I a Candidate for Liposuction?

You may be a candidate for liposuction if you exercise and eat right, but still struggle with areas of localized fat. Liposuction can be used to remove fat from the following areas:

  • Hips
  • Thighs
  • Abdomen
  • Buttocks
  • Waist
  • Back
  • Chest
  • Knees
  • Ankles
  • Calves
  • Chin
  • Neck

Keep in mind that liposuction is not a substitute for weight loss in cases of generalized obesity. Ideally, the perfect liposuction candidate is at or close to their target weight.   Also, the patient should not have any uncontrolled medical conditions that could complicate recovery or raise surgical risks.

Dr. Katz will review your candidacy during a one-on-one complimentary consultation at his office. He will take down a detailed medical history and inquire about any previous surgeries. He will also examine your self-described “problem areas” and ask you to identify your ideal outcomes. Then, he will explain a treatment approach for your case based on your unique needs and goals.

What Does Liposuction Surgery Involve?

Dr. Katz uses gentle suction to remove the excess fat from the body. When Dr. Katz is finished, he will place a compression garment over the treated area to help the area heal more quickly.

What Is Liposuction Recovery Like?

The treated area will have some swelling after surgery. The compression garment is required to help control the swelling and compress the skin to the body’s new contours.  Furthermore, while bruising and soreness are also common after surgery it is only temporary.

During your recovery, you should rest your body as much as possible, avoiding bending, heavy lifting, or other strenuous activity. Additional appointments will be scheduled after surgery to meet with Dr. Katz to review your healing progress and let you know when to return to work, exercise, and other normal activities.
