Microdermabrasion is a group of cosmetic procedures in which the dead, outside layer of your skin is partially or completely removed with delicate abrasion. It is used commonly to get rid of wrinkles and sun-damaged skin and to eliminate or lessen scars or dark spots. This nonsurgical treatment is offered as part of our successful skin rejuvenation services. We commonly see patients of ours who receive microdermabrasion skin looking younger.
What is involved with Microdermabrasion?
At Dr. Katz facilities, our microdermabrasion specialist uses an abrasion instrument to remove the uppermost layer of dead cells on your skin, this can be performed on the face, chest, back and hands to lower sun damage, wrinkles, enlarged pores and blemishes. The procedure is painless and requires no anesthetic.
Microdermabrasion can be used for scar removal and acne treatment of acne.
What are the costs of Microdermabrasion?
Microdermabrasion varies on a patient by patient basis. By setting up a consultation with one of our skin care experts we can pass along a more individualized plan.
Is Microdermabrasion Right for Me?
Microdermabrasion is not a cure for all on heavily damaged skin. However we have seen tremendous results for patients of ours that suffer with:

- Small scars
- Sun-damaged skin
- Surface acne
What Can I Expect After Microdermabrasion?
Microdermabrasion is often called a “lunchtime peel” because it requires little to no recovery time. The majority of microdermabrasion patients return to work and their normal activities immediately after the procedure. There can be some side effects, however, such as redness, which can last for a few hours. Your skin may also feel slightly sun or wind burnt.
The effects of microdermabrasion can usually be seen immediately. But your doctor may recommend a series of four to six treatments, with healing time in between, to see optimal results.
Your case will be different than anyone else’s, so it is important to follow your specialist’s advice. We will make sure you have clear instructions on how to care for your skin after microdermabrasion.
When it comes to microdermabrasion, there are many factors to consider. The staff at Warren J. Katz MD works hard to ensure that you have all of the details you need to make an informed decision. You can trust that we will always make your comfort, safety and satisfaction our main priorities throughout your skin rejuvenation process.
