Chemical Peels

A chemical peel is a procedure performed to achieve better skin tone and to remove fine lines on the face. The chemical solution removes outer layers of skin which have been damaged by age, sun, acne, wrinkles, or pigmentation problems. Removing the outer layers of skin prompts the body to generate a new layer of skin which is not tainted by the previous skin condition. Chemical peels may not be appropriate for darker skin complexions.

Chemical peels are effective in the reduction of fine facial wrinkles and lines, correction of age spots, and improving scars, especially from those commonly acquired from acne.

There are several different types of chemical solutions which can be used ranging from very mild to very strong. Dr. Katz will select what is best for the patient based on their skin condition, color, and desired result.

Peels are performed with IV sedation. Normally there is no dressing applied to the face following a peel. Patients are usually back to work in one week.
